Do you know a disabled person who is incapable of maintaining their house, a senior who needs a window replaced or someone who needs a grab bar or a health & safety check of their home?
 
The Fix-It Program provides minor home repairs to residents of Morris County including seniors, low income families, and disabled individuals.

Repairs are limited to health or safety-related concerns. Labor is provided at no charge, however, Based on income eligibility, a cost may be associated with services provided. We request reimbursement for materials used for repair. Hope House will not deny services for inability to pay for materials. Donations are gratefully accepted and are used toward materials for those unable to afford them.
 
 
Services Available
 
Operation Fix-It services provided, but not limited to:
   Health & Safety Survey Preparation: - changing batteries / installing smoke alarms, grab bars
   Energy Efficiency Check: - perform energy efficiency check of your home creating a list of  ways you can reduce your energy consumption (heat, air conditioning, electric)
   Plumbing: - replace washers, snake clogged drains, replace toilets/wax seals, toilet tank repair, repairs/replacement of traps, pipes
   Carpentry: - minor repairs of roofs/foundations/floors, installation of stair handrails, repair/replacement of wooden steps, doors/window sills, door locks, windows, caulking, changing screens/storm windows
   Masonry: - patching and repair steps/sidewalks
   Electrical: - repair/replacement of switches or outlets, lamp plugs, changing lightbulbs in ceiling fixtures

  1. Call Hope House at 973-361-5555 ext. 119.
  2. An initial phone assessment will be taken about the work required, personal and financial information to determine eligibility.
  3. An appointment will be set to begin work.
  4. A safety assessment of the home will be completed at the time the job is finished.
 
Volunteer Information
 
Volunteers with trade skills are always needed in the community to help with repairs. Seasonal lawn and yardwork projects are always available for small groups. We try to match volunteers to residences in their neighborhood. Office volunteers assist with filing and phone support.
